1200 sqft

Phase
Clarify → Continuity
Decision
To work within the constraints of the conserved Peranakan shophouse, allowing heritage elements to remain intact while introducing spatial clarity through restrained intervention.
Risk
Without a disciplined approach, the space risked becoming either overly preserved and impractical, or visually contrasted at the expense of focus, continuity, and everyday usability.
Outcome
A calm and coherent working environment where heritage and contemporary elements are aligned through proportion, organisation, and restraint, supporting focus, creative rhythm, and long-term adaptability.
Structuring Focus, Flow, and Identity
The LUXUR First Office occupies a conserved Peranakan shophouse, shaped by an early decision to work with constraint rather than against it. Within the boundaries of heritage regulation, the project approaches transformation through restraint, allowing spatial clarity to emerge without erasing memory.
Rather than imposing contrast as statement, the architecture calibrates old and new through quiet alignment. Preserved elements retain their weight and presence, while refined interventions introduce order and focus. Together, they establish a composed field where continuity and concentration coexist.
Material choices and furnishings are deliberately minimal, supporting clarity rather than visual assertion. Personal artifacts, including a curated wall of travel photographs, anchor the space in lived experience without overwhelming it. The result is a working environment that balances memory and intention—an office defined not by expression, but by calm, structure, and sustained creative rhythm.
