INNER PATTERN UNIVERSE

Research + Framework Platform

Exploring the invisible patterns that shape how people experience space.

Inner Pattern Universe is the research foundation of Beam Ker, developed through an ongoing exploration of the relationship between people, emotion and spatial experience.

Emerging from questions encountered in professional practice, the research investigates the invisible patterns that shape how places are perceived, experienced and remembered.

These insights continue to strengthen architectural judgement, guiding the creation of places with greater clarity, connection and enduring value.

MAIN FRAMEWORK

Inner Pattern Universe

↓

7 × 7 Sense Matrix

The Structural Foundation

The 7 × 7 Sense Matrix is the underlying structure of Inner Pattern Universe.

It investigates the relationship between the seven human senses and seven dimensions of human experience, creating a framework for understanding how perception, emotion and awareness interact before behaviour is formed.

This matrix provides the conceptual foundation from which all subsequent research is developed.

12 Emo Zodiac

Emotional Frequencies

Building upon the 7 × 7 Sense Matrix, the 12 Emo Zodiac explores twelve recurring emotional frequencies that influence how people perceive themselves, relate to others and navigate everyday life.

Each profile represents an underlying emotional pattern, providing a more nuanced understanding of the inner dynamics that shape behaviour, perception and personal growth.

12 Aesthetic Zodiac

Aesthetic Expression

The 12 Aesthetic Zodiac explores how inner patterns are expressed visually.

Building upon the emotional foundations established by the 12 Emo Zodiac, each profile investigates how colour, form, materiality, composition and rhythm become recognisable aesthetic identities.

Together, the framework connects emotional patterns with visual expression, offering a deeper understanding of personal aesthetic preferences.

The Six Archetypes

Behavioural Patterns

The Six Archetypes synthesise the emotional frequencies identified through the 12 Emo Zodiac into six broader behavioural profiles.

The framework provides a practical way of understanding recurring patterns in decision-making, communication, motivation and interaction, making complex emotional dynamics easier to recognise and apply across different contexts.

APPLICATION

Masterpieces Spatial Studies

A conceptual exploration of how time, memory and perception can be translated into architectural composition.

Through iterative studies and cross contextual testing, the research examines continuity, repeatability and adaptability, strengthening its application across different architectural environments.

Lifestyle and Objects

An exploration of how the principles of Inner Pattern Universe extend beyond architecture into everyday objects, rituals and ways of living, creating a more holistic relationship between people and their environment.

12 Aesthetic Pattern Collection

A research collection translating emotional structures into surface pattern systems through composition, proportion, rhythm and material expression.

Developed as an extension of the broader research framework, the collection explores how abstract emotional qualities can be expressed across architecture, interiors and product applications.

Handpainted Artwork

Original artworks exploring colour, composition and emotional expression as an extension of the research process, allowing ideas to be investigated through a more intuitive and experimental medium.

Digital Artwork

Digitally developed compositions that investigate pattern, form and spatial perception, extending the research into scalable visual systems for architecture, interiors and future design applications.

COLLABRATION

Research Partnerships

Inner Pattern Universe is open to collaborations that contribute to a deeper understanding of architecture, human experience and spatial thinking.

Partnerships are welcomed with organisations, institutions and individuals who share a commitment to thoughtful research, cultural exchange and the exploration of new perspectives through design.

Every collaboration begins with curiosity and a shared intention to create meaningful work.

Architecture × Inner Pattern

Research Integration

Beam Ker's architectural practice is grounded in Inner Pattern Universe—  an evolving body of research exploring how people perceive, experience and connect with space.

The knowledge developed through this work informs early-stage architectural decisions, helping establish greater clarity in spatial planning, materiality, composition and atmosphere  before formal design begins.

Every project contributes to the research, and every new insight strengthens the architectural thinking behind future work.

Research is not separate from architecture.

It is the foundation that continues to shape it.

FUNKY

THE 12 EMO ZODIAC | CELEBRATE PEACE OF MIND

The 12 Emo Zodiac is a totemic research series translating shifting emotional states into structured visual form. Each pattern reflects the temperament of a birth month, mapping inner climate through rhythm, proportion, and symbolic composition.

Rooted in early hand-drawn mandalas, the project evolved from personal emotional mapping into a shared visual language. What began as a quiet ritual developed into a system — transforming mood, memory, and perception into legible totems.

Now extending from drawing to digital application, the collection moves across wearable forms and spatial contexts. These works function not as ornament, but as vessels of emotional structure—articulating feeling through clarity rather than sentiment.

The 12 Emo Zodiac continues to evolve as a design language that gives emotion visible form while maintaining compositional discipline.

"The 12 Emo Zodiac is not beauty alone,

but a fabric where every soul's emotions can be seen."

ARTISTIC

BEAM x HAND-PAINTED ART

Beam’s hand-painted works explore drawing as a disciplined form of attention. Rooted in the symmetry of mandalas and guided by intuitive colour movement, each composition investigates rhythm, balance, and emotional clarity through layered, tactile form.

What begins as a meditative act becomes structured visual language. Repetition, proportion, and chromatic tension are calibrated rather than improvised, allowing emotion to be articulated without excess. The works move between spontaneity and control—capturing instinct while maintaining compositional coherence.

More than visual artefacts, these pieces function as moments of pause. They invite stillness, sharpen perception, and reveal the quiet structure beneath feeling.

BEAM x HANDMADE JEWELRY

A self-taught artisan since 2004, Beam’s work is informed by Australia’s diverse fashion culture and a long-standing exploration of personal style as identity.

Her practice bridges Eastern refinement and Western edge, synthesising cultural references into bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each creation is developed on request, carefully considered in form, material, and naming — designed to become a lasting component of a personal collection rather than a seasonal accessory.

Material experimentation remains central to her process. From fine textiles and braided elements to sculptural wood and layered textures, materials are selected for their structural and tactile qualities as much as their visual presence. The work moves between delicacy and boldness, restraint and play — guided by curiosity rather than convention.

Each piece operates as a study in form and feeling, shaped through intention and crafted for longevity.

ARTWORKS AND SURFACE PATTERN

Beam Ker’s artistic practice explores the intersection of art, design, and narrative as structured forms of expression. The work examines how intention, perception, and atmosphere can be translated into visual systems that extend beyond architecture.

Alongside Inner Pattern Club, Beam develops bespoke collaborations for brands and spatial environments — creating artworks, surface systems, and lifestyle objects that introduce depth, identity, and atmospheric continuity across residential, hospitality, and commercial contexts. Applications extend across wallpapers, textiles, spatial graphics, and curated objects.

These works are conceived as compositional frameworks rather than decorative additions, allowing visual language to reinforce spatial intent.

Services include:

  • Custom Surface Systems & Artworks
Bespoke visual frameworks developed for interiors, textiles, wallpapers, and spatial applications.

  • Concept-Led Lifestyle Objects
Limited and collaborative objects translating research-based visual language into wearable and livable formats.

  • Commissioned Works & Licensing
Strategic creative partnerships supporting brand identity, narrative coherence, and spatial differentiation.

Emotion is translated into form through clarity of perception.
